France becomes the most dubious country of the benefits of vaccines

France would be the country where the level of confidence in vaccines is the lowest in the world. 33% of French people doubt the safety of vaccines.

This was obtained from the latest survey conducted in 144 countries.

The survey conducted by the British charity Wellcome used participants aged 15 and over between April and December 2018.

In launching AFP, the study found that high-income countries had little confidence in vaccines. This would be due to the rise of the anti-vaccine movement in the community.

The United Nations (UN) report of April 2019 predicted that as many as 169 million children would have lost the first essential dose of measles vaccine in 2010-2017.

"I think the trend is due to doubts and public concerns about vaccines that tend to occur in developed countries," said Imran Khan, Wellcome's public relations manager, who led the research.

Globally, 79% of the population does not doubt the safety of vaccines. Another 84% even admits the effectiveness of the vaccine.

While France was "sovereign" as the lowest country, Bangladesh and Rwanda were designated as the countries with the highest level of confidence in vaccines. Nearly 100% of people in both countries have no doubt about the safety of vaccines.

"I think the trust that exists in Bangladesh exists because the region has more infectious diseases," Khan said.

Khan added that more research is needed to understand the cause of vaccine mistrust in high-income countries. He suspected that the deterioration in the performance of the French economy in recent years was one of the factors that contributed to this sentiment.
