Users of digital wallet applications in Indonesia are rising

Payment services with digital wallets in Indonesia are now appreciated by people as the use of smartphones increases. The proliferation of digital payment applications facilitates cardless transactions.

The iPrice Group meta-search site is collaborating with data analytics firm App Annie to conduct research on the most popular electronic wallet application in Indonesia. iPrice Group and App Annie have been using app download data and monthly active users since 2017.

The data shows that Gopay, the digital wallet of the revival company Gojek, is the application for the most active users in Indonesia.

Compiled from the Medium page, 30% of all electronic money transactions in Indonesia come from Gopay. Even in February, Gopay managed to reach US $ 6.3 billion, with a total of 70% obtained from Gojek transactions using Gopay as a payment method.

In addition to Gopay, as a newcomer to the digital wallet sector, DANA has been added to the list of the most popular digital wallet applications. IPrice research data shows that the number of monthly active users of DANA is relatively stable between the fourth quarter of 2018 and the second quarter of 2019.

"The funds managed to climb one rank in the second quarter of 2019 to replace LinkAja in third position, unlike the number of applications downloaded, DANA went from one rank to position 3 and was replaced by OVO in the second quarter of 2019, "said iPrice. The group representative quoted an official statement received by CNNIndonesia.com on Tuesday (8/13).

Lippo's OVC e-wallet application is in second place based on the number of applications downloaded in the second quarter of 2019. In the transport sector, OVO is expanding as payment method at Grab Indonesia.

OVO also associates local e-commerce, Tokopedia, with OVO Cash. Unfortunately, judging by the OVO development chart on iPrice, the number of apps downloaded decreased from second to third in the first quarter of 2018, but for monthly active users, it climbed one rank in the same period.

The collaboration between the company and Lion Air Group is one of the factors that increase the number of OVO users.

LinkAja is officially a competitor of Gopay and OVO with a total of 22 million registered users. This app is a combination of state-owned companies (BUMN) such as Telkomsel, Bank Mandiri, BNI, Telkom and BRI.

iPrice noted that LinkAja remained in third place in the second quarter of 2018 in the first quarter of 2019. Regarding the number of app downloads, the number of app downloads declined in the fourth quarter of 2018.
